Las Vegas, NV -- The second annual Ante Up for Africa, founded by poker pro Annie Duke, actor/director Don Cheadle and Norman Epstein, event recently took place during the World Series of Poker® at the Rio® All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Numerous celebrities and professional poker players paid a $5000 buy-in to take part in the Texas Hold’em charity game. Ante Up for Africa is dedicated to raising money for victims of the crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan and to raise awareness of the humanitarian disaster that still continues there.
The winner, pro player John Hennigan from Philadelphia, won $136,860 and donated it all back to the charity. He was also presented with a specially engraved Corum Romvlvs timepiece which he chose to keep! Corum is the official timepiece and bracelet supplier for the World Series of Poker.
