Paris Hilton: Making a Statement

Paris Hilton is often in the news for all of the wrong reasons: DUI’s, late night partying and even jail time. Of late, she has been keeping a much lower profile. She has said she wants to grow up and lead a more exemplary life. We wish her luck. The Paris Hilton pictured, is making a different kind of statement altogether.
Statement Necklaces are generally chunky oversized pieces of jewelry that tend to, well, make a statement! Most commonly, these large gems are worn with a simple outfit, acting as a showcase, and even a conversation piece. Statement Necklaces may be made up of colored glass, or precious gems. As seen on Ms. Hilton, her large colored stones are of dark jewel tones that just happen to match her summer dress.
Earlier this year we also saw Drew Barrymore making a bold statement. At the NYC premiere of her film Music & Lyrics, she topped off her simple Donna Karan dress with a tiered Stephen Dwek Statement Necklace. It definitely takes a bold and confident woman, to carry off such a look.
Statement Necklaces are being showcased for fall in all of the magazines from Harpers Bazaar to Us Weekly. Whom do you think wears this look best? Is this a look best saved for awards' shows, or would you wear one out to dinner?
