Natalie Portman: And The Winner Is…
|
At the Academy Awards on Sunday, Natalie Portman emerged as one of the evening’s big winners…And she wasn’t even nominated!
As a co-presenter of the Academy Award for Cinematography, Natalie Portman came on stage with Ben Stiller, who was actually in character lampooning the recent appearance made by Joaquin Phoenix on the Late Show with David Letterman. In his shaggy beard and dark glasses, Ben was barely recognizable, and acted in the same truly bizarre fashion as Joaquin had previously. The audience went wild, laughing and applauding throughout Natalie’s attempts to describe the award to be presented. In her own right, Natalie Portman has true comedic timing. She didn’t give in to laughter; she feigned frustration beautifully and proved she is a great actress and a great sport. Ultimately, Natalie presented Anthony Dod Mantle with the award for best Cinematography for his work on Slumdog Millionaire.
It seems Natalie Portman emerged victorious on another front on Oscar night as well… many sources have named her “best dressed” for the evening - an unwritten award unto itself. In her pale pink Rodarte column evening dress she looked every bit the elegant wisp of a girl that she is. With upswept hair and minimal makeup, she looked age appropriate and with an ease that proves she doesn’t have to work that hard to be elegant. Wearing diamonds from jewelry house Kwiat, Natalie was able to shine without looking overdone. Her diamond cuff bracelet, bold right hand ring and stud earrings were the perfect complement to her delicate look. Only when she turned around, did you see that Natalie wore an additional piece of jewelry: a vintage Kwiat headpiece created more than 50 years ago, was firmly mounted in her hair. Now here is a star who shines coming and going!
