As fans of Mariah Carey know, she is not one to shy away from the camera. In fact, the musical diva often welcomes the media into her home, even holding interviews inside the enormous shoe closet of her three storey apartment in New York City. Mariah Carey DOES love her shoes! In fact she seems to have quite a keen interest in fashion and luxury, and she’s not afraid to flaunt it!
Mariah Carey also loves butterflies. From album covers, to tattoos, the singer loves to surround herself with butterfly adornments. She even designed the bottle for her new perfume M, with a butterfly stopper. Her love of butterflies also carries over into her love for jewelry. Did you know that Mariah Carey has a collection of diamond and precious gem encrusted butterfly rings, made especially for her by luxury jewelry brand Van Cleef & Arpels?
Mariah Carey and Van Cleef have had a long standing relationship. In fact, she wears their jewelry exclusively. Recently Ms. Carey went on a shopping spree at the Rodeo drive location of Van Cleef & Arpels in Beverly Hills. It was anything but a private event…the paparazzi were in a frenzy trying to photograph her through the window. As usual, Mariah did not disappoint. She actually seemed to enjoy the attention, and put on quite a show.
Here we see Mariah Carey modeling a piece from Van Cleef’s Alhambra collection: a long necklace with their trademark clover alternating with butterflies. The necklace is white gold with mother of pearl and onyx motifs. She tried on several other necklaces during her visit, showcasing her favorite delicate insect, but seemed to leave empty handed. Perhaps she placed a custom order?
