Who would have thought that the ALMA awards, honoring Latino American performers in the Media Arts, could also be credited as a sporting event??? Well, ceremony hostess Eva Longoria Parker sure made it look that way! Only our favorite sprightly Housewife could manage 10 glamorous costume and hairstyle changes over the course of the evening. Perhaps we should call her Speedy Longoria Parker! Thank goodness Eva enlisted the help of her hair stylist Ken Paves, and fashion stylist Robert Verdi, otherwise she might have been truly Desperate!
While Eva Longoria Parker enjoyed hosting the 2008 ALMA awards for her third year in a row, many other high profile Latinos were honored over the course of the evening’s ceremonies. Actress America Ferrera won the top honors of the night for her staring role as Betty Suarez in the ABC smash television hit, Ugly Betty. Latina singer Shakira received the evening’s Humanitarian Award for her work with early childhood education programs. Fashion Designer Narciso Rodriguez was also honored with an ALMA award, for his achievement in fashion.
Seen here in just one of her fabulous ensembles, Eva Longoria Parker pairs her red silk floor length gown by Carolina Herera, with jewels from luxury brand H. Stern. Ms Parker is wearing drop earrings from the Hera collection, featuring a leaf motif of cognac diamonds set in noble gold. Not visible in this photo, Eva also wore the matching Hera ring. Eva is a big a fan of H. Stern; she owns many pieces personally, and accessorized most of her 10 costume changes, with jewelry pieces from several of the H. Stern’s collections. Even if she only wore each piece for a few moments, Eva Longoria Parker knows how to showcase luxury!
