| Mariah Carey: E= $2.5 million? |
Mariah Carey is anything but publicity shy. In promoting her latest album E=MC2, she made the rounds on all of the talk shows last week. Her album was not the only thing she was eager to discuss, either. Despite the fact that she has just broken Elvis Presley’s long standing record for most number one hits (she now has 18 to Elvis’ 17), she seemed quite happy to spend most of her air time discussing her recent weight loss. On Oprah, Mariah even gave a tour of her New York City brownstone, showing off her massive walk in closet that she has exclusively for lingerie! So suffice it to say, Mariah is not exactly a wallflower! I think she safely assumed her record would be a success on its own merit, and she was therefore free to use the interview time to promote herself. Hmmm… is this the real emancipation of Mimi?
So isn’t it interesting, that once her album had swiftly reached the top of the charts, Mariah Carey appeared last week at the Tribeca Film Festival, sporting a new piece of jewelry. And not just any piece of jewelry: A custom made engagement ring from new beau, actor/rapper Nick Cannon. The ring was reportedly purchased from Jacob & Co in New York for $2.5 million, and showcases a whopping 10 carat square emerald-cut fancy light pink diamond, surrounded by 58 smaller pink diamonds, with two half moon diamonds on each side. This ring is definitely a one of a kind piece, despite rumors that it was the same ring Mr. Cannon had earlier given to previous fiancé, Victoria’s Secret model, Selita Ebanks. Nope, this ring is as one of a kind as Ms. Carey herself.
With a number one album, an incredible ring and a new husband (sources are reporting that Mariah and Nick have already secretly wed), it would seem that Mariah Carey is already well on her way, on the road to happiness.
