By now everyone knows about one of the evenings big hoopla’s at the MTV Video Music Awards. Yes, Kanye stole Taylor Swift’s thunder by storming on stage, taking the mike and announcing that Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. Poor Taylor left the stage unsure as to whether she had received an award or not! Of course, Beyonce later took to the stage upon receiving her own award, and made things right by giving Taylor Swift a chance to give her own acceptance speech. From disses to kisses at the VMAs!
The lesser mentioned hoopla that evening was in fact the overwhelming presence of HOOP earrings! How many performers were wearing them? Many! Almost all it seems! While Beyonce is often known for wearing one-of-a-kind creations from her own label, it seems that while she sparkled, her jewelry was less than original!
As seen here, Beyonce wore over a million dollars of diamond jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz, showcasing gigantic diamond hoop earrings ($450,000) and three diamond bracelets, featuring lavender, green and black carved jade as well as rubies ($600,000). Unfortunately it seems as though many other artists had the same idea: Pink wore diamond hoops from Siera, and Alicia Keys wore diamond hoops and a stack of Lorraine Schwartz platinum bangles featuring black and white diamonds. Kristin Cavallari of The Hills was also seen wearing diamond hoops by Sutra and a large diamond cuff bracelet. Did a memo go out, requiring a jewelry dress code???
Perhaps since Beyonce won 3 Moonmen awards for her song Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It), Beyonce’s look would have stood out more if she had worn RINGS instead!
